First of all, we have to be impartial and diplomatic in our line of work. We are very clear that this work is not an instrument of any one group of people or party. It’s a tough subject that we approach with the utmost care and intelligence, and also with a lot of enjoyment and fun. We have deep industry and academic knowledge and experience. If you want a trusted advisor and collaborative partner, then Abundant Sun is for you.

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work has recently come into the spotlight, but we’ve been at it since 2003. We have years of experience designing and delivering effective experiential learning opportunities for a wide range of organizations, including multinational corporations, small- and medium-sized businesses, global law firms, banks and credit unions, government and public sector bodies, universities, non-profits, energy companies, construction companies and charities. That experience has allowed us to develop, test, and carefully hone an approach that sets us apart from the old-timers and the newcomers in our field.

Non-Judgmental Approach

Without Prejudice

Above all, we are human: we like to laugh, learn, and have fun. We love what we do, which allows us to take difficult subject matter and make it accessible and approachable. We are positive and realistic about the challenges that face businesses and us as individuals. Our role is not to be the strong-arm of the law, or the thought police. No guilt, no shame, no blame here. Rather, we help people develop greater integrity, ease and agility when grappling with complex and fragile issues.

We practice; we do not preach. All that we do is rooted in civil discourse and diplomacy. In the midst of highly politicized and charged discussions about culture, we hold steady, we don’t ‘take sides’, we maintain our systems-thinking approach and we spark innovative solutions.

One of our greatest skills is to create educational environments that provide people with the opportunity to speak about things that go unspoken, to ask questions that go unasked and to try new approaches that have been discouraged. We concentrate on the things that bind us together, and which provide us with a greater sense of our human capital, propelling us with hope and optimism.

Qualitative & Quantitative Research & Analysis

Find Balance And Perfect Symmetry

We have a well-established research and analysis function – ASAP: Abundant Sun Analytical Practice – that provides analysis, information and insight on employees, customers and local communities. Our solutions include surveys, benchmarking, focus groups, and statistical analysis. Where relevant, we use advance statistical methodologies and tools (such as our “Beyond Binary” multivariate regression analysis) to pinpoint the precise issues that organizations are facing, so resultant action plans are supported by a relevant and robust business case.

The first phase of the Cultural Transformation EPIC Journey activity usually would consist of a number of key diagnostic components, as we begin to work through the RAISE methodology:

  • Surveys – We have a range of online diagnostic tools that we are able to undertake with all employees to gather baseline data;
  • Fact-finding 1:1 interviews with each executive team member, and a number of focus groups with a selection of key employees;
  • Analysis of workforce data (such as composition of the workforce, recruitment, exits, and promotion flows);
  • Review of outcomes of all other relevant work conducted, and any other desk research that is available and/or required;

We use cutting-edge, sophisticated, statistical methodologies and tools such as our “Beyond Binary” multivariate regression analysis, to reveal cultural issues – often overlooked. You get: Action plans backed by relevant and robust business cases.

At the end of Phase One, all of our diagnostic work results in a strategy event being delivered with your top team, champions and key influencers.

In our considerable experience the top team event is one of the key differentiators between cultural change programs and diversity & inclusion strategies that flourish and deliver the desired outcomes, and those that fail.

Typically without this type of carefully crafted and delivered intervention; we generally observe organizations left with a solitary compliance-based approach to equality and diversity that is seen as largely driven by a HR agenda looking at social justice outcomes for under-represented groups. These almost always fail to improve an organization’s ability to reach its core business objectives and targets, and to create a truly inclusive business environment.

The lead facilitator would be our CEO, Dr Jude Smith Rachele, who will present with great expertise, professionalism, humor and clarity, an engaging workshop that will present key findings. She will facilitate key discussions and exercises, and probe, challenge, influence, and coach the top team as they develop their understanding, and build strategies and processes to bring to life plans that address the relationship between inclusive culture and business performance.

Artistic Solutions

Reach New Heights

We believe whole-heartedly in the power of creativity, and in helping you create a new energy in your organization around diversity. We are data scientists, business strategists, performing artists, therapists and bankers, too. (yes, and bankers!). We’re creative in the way we build productive networks of people within your organization, to affect and solidify change from within.

We also lean heavily on our creative backgrounds for our presentations, weaving elements of theater into our trainings. Why? Because the creative realm calls upon us to have a different response to what we see, by considering something from another perspective or by putting ourselves in others’ shoes. It takes us out of our own particular reality, into a space where we are much less likely to dismiss situations that “don’t apply to me.”

The freedom to be creative also takes us out of a “right-and-wrong” mindset. As we learn new skills, we need to have the freedom to try and fail, and to explore new ways of being.

We set the stage for success to blossom and grow. We use our performing arts skills to provide experiential learning that increases cohesion, sparks innovation and enhances business performance.
